December's Meeting & Social

Despite the problems that covid has thrown at us, the Cotton Mill Quilt Guild still managed to make their annual donations to the Fredericton Homeless Shelters.  Warren Maddox, Executive Director received a cash donation, quilts made by the Guild and donations of clothing and care items from individual members. He thanked the guild for their years of continued donations and spoke of new transitional apartments that have been and are being built to help homeless people move out of the shelters, into apartments for up to a year and then out into their own residences.

We enjoyed a large show and tell of Christmas quilting - all are beautiful projects made by a very talented group - great work - be proud fellow quilters!

Jennifer S. presenting the cheque to Warren Maddox.  Below are quilts and other items also dontated.

Almost a completed project from the class given on turning panels into the attic window panes.  This one is by Constance S. has Frosty just where he needs to be.

Liz R. did a lovely job with applique and crystals on this snowman quilt.

Christmas ornaments by Angela LP

June G.'s pointsettia made with iron on ribbon

Rhoda F.  shared her Christmas trees and noted her runner could be placed to have the coloured trees being the main colour or the white trees could be dominate.

Rhoda kept with the Christmas tree theme for this little project.

Mary W. showed us her Linked table runner from a recent course given by Marg.

Carolyn C.'s Wonky Trees in pretty blues

Carolyn's Stars - all made of Christmas fabrics

Estella M.'s Christmas table runner

Pauline L.'s  has also completed her Linked table runner

Pauline also made this advent calendar several years ago.  It was her first paper pieced project.

And Pauline's Christmas links

Bertha M. brought us stockings

Bertha also brought this table topper and the cheerful "Winter Wonderland" quilt below

Ann C. shared her pointsettia table runner that she hand quilted herself

Marianne M. brought her  pretty paper pieced table runner.

Othella M has snowmen draped over the back of her sofa - how cute!  She also made the centre piece below which is made for a candle to sit in the middle.  This piece is 3D with the centre petals raised.

Othella also made this nativity scene

Jennifer S.'s love of blue shows in her table runner and her tree skirt.  Both are made using silver tape sewn to divide each piece of fabric making these pieces really pop

Diane K.'s Christmas blocks quilt.  Below is the back showing snowflake quilting done by Joan B.

Diane's tree skirt.

Dianne also showed us a wreath she was given made of felted wool fabrics - what a neat idea

Maureen M. also completed her Linked table runner and made two smaller runners to match.

Joyce N. made Christmas ornaments using her colour wash technique.  Below is the colourful backing for the above quilt.

Joyce also used her colour wash technique to make her Tumbling Blocks quilt.

And then we got to eat - and there were plenty of selections

A silent auction was also held.  Lots of choices of food, crafts, etc. for bidding.
