Now Here's A Lady Who's Blowing Through Her Scraps!

Jennifer S. is now my idol.  I've been working away at my scraps and thinking I'm not getting anywhere but Jennifer is going through hers in a big way.  First was her green version and now blue and yellow.  These look great and I'm sure they will be appreciated.

Love them and the quilting is very pretty too.

Scrap Buster!

Jennifer S. has completed a scrap buster quilt which she is donating to the Quilts of Valour organization.

Jennifer said "When we were in lockdown, I took all my scrappy strips and made 9 inch blocks using the freezer paper base and the sew, flip and press method.  Now I am putting them together. This is my green one – more colours to come."

and that's not all, folks - stay tuned!

Jennifer also participated in the January project and completed her heart runner including an embroidered edge. So cute and a great opportunity to try out those fancy stitches on our machines.

Great work, Jennifer.  Can't wait to see the colour of your next quilt.

Stash Busting

Barb E. is happy to announce she's taken a chunk out of her stash.  Here is her story:

"I made 5 pillow cases for gifts. Two were moose and one was a deer family were blocks that could have been on a quilt. I sewed each to fabric. The backs do not match the front, so owner can get another look. Two were prints ..horses or fish under water..with plain fabric on the other side.  I used almost 5 yards out of my stash.  Yea!  Happy New Year to all!"

What a great idea for making pillow cases and congratulations on the stash bust.

Happy sewing everyone.

Hearts Are Here!

As you know may recall, earlier this month an email was sent out announcing that Brenda C. and Angela L.P. will be sending out a project to guild members each month.  Included with this email was the pattern for a table runner appropriate for February tabletops - Allison Harris of Cluck, Cluck Sew gave the Guild permission to send our members her pattern entitled "I Heart You."  We have our first completed project already.

Janice W. has sent the following picture and isn't it a cutie!

If anyone else is sewing this runner, please forward a picture for posting. It would be nice to see different interpretations of the pattern.

Another project done!

A beautiful runner by Brenda C.

Brenda said " Finally finished off a table runner Emily helped me with last summer.  ...but when I told her, that the next time I see her, it would be finished, she said, well it really doesn’t matter, because it’s more for spring and summer.  She is spot on, and she’s 6.  She organized all the flowers and dragonflies and butterflies."

Yes, it will brighten up a spring table!

Has anyone something new to pass on to the group - a new project, technique or tool?  If so, please forward for posting.

I've been trying to use up my scraps - do they multiply in the night?  They don't seem to be decreasing.

Happy sewing,
Gloria P.

Happy New Year to All!

It's time to start our year off with projects to share.  Angela L.P. has sent the following pictures of her recent sewing fun.  How cute!

Angela said "This is a Tilda doll.  The face is incomplete.  Also I've included the reference book that I worked from. "

Moravian Star

Angela said "This star had 5 sides but should have had 6.  A friend did one with 11 sides.  You can find the free instructions by searching Moravian star AQS.  Suggest a tiny needle, even a beading needle and glue stick.  Mine was done with regular printer paper but the instructions suggest card stock."

Angela has another project.  She said "Here’s some of the wee birds I made.  Somehow they are fascinating to me.  Sadly they don’t reduce my stash of scraps it all.  They are a freebie and called Tilda birds."

And her final project is knitting.  She said "This is a paid pattern and one I made several of for our donation event ."

We know Angela has been keeping her fingers busy.  The birds are so cute!  So is the baby but we know that's a "not included".

Happy sewing and hope this year brings lots of beautiful quilting and sewing.
