March 2013 Meeting of CMQG

   Hi Folks,
Well, today was bright and sunny, a beautiful day for a guild meeting despite it being minus 14 degrees C.  Gwenda, our  Co-Coordinator who did a super job today, kept emphasizing that Spring is in 2 days, but I will tell you, it didn't feel like it!!

During the meeting Karen Ingersoll stood up and asked if she could have volunteers to applique squares for the 250th Anniversary of Maugerville.  Her mother had made the squares and she is anxious of course to have them done, so that she can get a quilt made for the event.

First on the agenda, after our busy meeting was Show and Tell.  Gwenda, Kathy and Bertha showed their Box Top projects that they made as a challenge at the Elm City Guild.  Using the colours on the boxtop, they could do anything that they wanted.  Like them?

Then we proceeded with more Show and Tell...

Linda Wolstenholme took the prize today (if there had been one!) for the most finishes!!

A lovely seascape project from CQA in Halifax -nice finish Linda!

Linda also completed her miniature that was taught by Joyce Neuman at CMQG.

AND Linda also finished her WINTER WONDERLAND!!

Close up of the button's that Linda W. used...

and look at the sweet mitten strings, we all remember having!

Cecile Meade is hiding behind her baby quilt, one of many that she made for Charity.

Karen is back with her 2.5 inch strip race quilt.

Cecile Meade put together these hearts for this quilt since the last meeting and...

hand quilted it herself!!

Bertha Mazerolle holds her completed miniature-Single Irish Chain.

Bertha also shows of her "Irish" Cathedral Window project taught by Cathy Hachey.

Sandra Day almost finished her Miniature as well, and looks a tad impish I think!

Gwenda laughing with Ulrica Healy while admiring her miniature.

A more serious photo, have a look at Ulrica's borders.

Judy Colson has completed the top of her Miniature  and will sandwich it and quilt it soon.

Betty Colligan also finished her WINTER WONDERLAND Project.  I love it, do you?
Gwenda seemed to enjoy her Co-Ordinator job today.

Following our cheerful Show and Tell, Joan Baldwin began the Workshop Projects that she had organized for this meeting.
We were very lucky today to have 3 individual items taught.

The FIRST was a scarf by Gwenda Mattinson:

The SECOND was a "grocery bag" taught by Joan Baldwin (with Evelyn MacNaughton and Kathy Feltmate as helpers as needed):

The THIRD was a cute little dresden plate placemat also taught by Joan Baldwin:

Everyone seemed quite happy with the instructions for these three fairly simple projects, and went away to sew at home, or to sew today at Guild!

Thanks for "tuning in", leave a comment if you feel the urge!

  1. Great Show and Tell Kathy. Thanks for posting. Love all the mini's. And love all the Winter Wonderland Block of the Months too. I really enjoyed seeing how they all look so different with different colors and settings. The snowflake buttons are sweet!!
