January Meeting on a cold morning!!

Our first meeting of the new year, 2013!!, was held yesterday in the sunshine but on a bitterly cold morning.  Lots of Guild members were there despite that raring to go!!  So much to do and learn, lots of networking, socializing and information passing, that we all enjoy the meetings.  Carol Hallet is such a great coffee and tea maker , that I for one, head to the coffee pot when I arrive.  You??

Gail Mitchell, held the meeting, and introduced our speaker from the Fredericton Homeless Shelter, Debra Swan.  It is lovely that we can help such a worthy cause, and Debra was very grateful, as she explained the role of the Homeless Shelter in our city.  Thank you for coming and educating us with such an interesting talk.

Following our meeting,  and listening to our Guest Speaker, we had a short Show and Tell.  My thinking is that everyone was pretty busy prior to and during Christmas and needed a rest afterwards to recoup.  Wait until next month for more goodies from our members!!

Beverly Morell made a wonderfully colourful  ISpy quilt for her Grandaughter!!

Anne O'Brien produced this beauty, all sports.

Carol Mercer made several sets of "christmas tree serviettes" as gifts this Christmas.

... and a notepad cover.

...and placemats for a farm with 4 children, showing the front,

...and the back!
Joan Baldwin is getting some advice on her lovely quilt's binding.
Joan showing her Victoria Quilt that she added some dragonflies to give it some extra character.

Evelyn MacNaughton is working on a stunning embroidery project (table topper) doing it on wool. Judge for yourself but I think it is gorgeous.

What do you think?

The fun of looking at a quilt not sewing together yet, and advising, was demonstrated by our members.

Gail Mitchell is demonstrating how to use Thangles to a crowd of onlookers...

Joanne and Linda are "just chatting" before getting down to work.

Our hand quilters are at it again. producing lovely work,

...as well as chatting!

Simply...talented!!

That is it for this time folks, come back again.

  1. Great photos Kathy. Love that embroidery on wool. That is the first time I've seen that. Also loved all the pictures of our hand quilters. What a great group. Nobody realizes how many quilts are hand quilted to give to cancer patients in the area.
