APRIL'S MEETING AND SHOW & TELL
Before our regular show and tell this month, we had a mini show & tell of all the quilt tops made by members for donation to Quilts of Valour. Talent and creativity certainly were not in short supply through this display. Today's tops added 17 more to the current 32 already completed. Following nine pictures are all the tops for donation.
The following pictures are from this month's Show & Tell
First up, is Joyce N.'s very creatively placed Japanese ladies which includes fussy cutting and applique
Cecile G. rescued a lovely antique quilt that certainly had seen better days. It is a hand pieced Grandmother's Garden quilt. Cecile blanket stitched the top to new borders and hand quilted the complete quilt and added the following label.
Carolyn G. showed us her lovely table runner. Love this pattern.
June G. started off small with her table runner called Awesome Blossom,
but then she went big with this beauty named Peace and Healing. This was a pattern that was published two blocks per month. Included is the backing below.
Pauline L. didn't have a name for this striking scrap quilt but it sure catches your eye.
And then Pauline made this king sized quilt for her daughter. This one is in Christmas fabrics and is hand tied with crochet cotton.
Joyce N. is back displaying her talents with appliqued quilts. These were once one large quilt that Joyce split into two and added the marshland appliques.
Joyce's creativity is never ending. This is a strip quilt that she has added so much more to with her unique cutting and made pop using the lime green to join her pieces together.
Carla F has shown us that backings are meant to be seen. First up, her Christmas gnomes aren't just for Christmas when they are backed with colourful crazy cats.
Carla's toddler quilt is another reversible quilt with lots of letters and critters on one side and bright happy fish and fabrics on the other. A great version of an "I Spy" quilt.
